Dog groomer calgary

About Me:

I have been in the doggy industry for over 5+ years. I worked in multiple industries but have always come back full circle to working with doggies in some way. After grooming and hearing about and experiencing my own horror stories with dog dental care, I decided to make a change.

I am pleased to offer this teeth cleaning service after successfully completing two certification programs. One of which is the only state-accredited, academically recognized training program taught by a veterinarian specializing in this particular field. The other one is from one of the most well-known companies in Alberta and BC which have been leaders in this industry for the past 12 years.

What Is This Service:

Non-sedative teeth cleaning for dogs is a procedure aimed at removing plaque, tartar and build-up from a dog’s teeth without the use of sedation or anesthesia.  This method involves manually scaling the teeth using specialized tools, followed by polishing to smooth the tooth surfaces and reduce the likelihood of plaque buildup.  It is often preferred by pet owners who are concerned about the risks associated with anesthesia or who have dogs that may not tolerate sedation well.

What We Offer:

Our service offers teeth cleaning without the need for anesthesia or sedation. For smaller dogs, we gently wrap them in a towel, while larger dogs are positioned comfortably without one. Once settled, we carefully clean your dog’s teeth using manual scaling tools, a process that typically lasts around an hour and 30 minutes. Prior to beginning, we’ll discuss any findings with you, including signs of gum irritation, loose or damaged teeth, or other abnormalities. While we conduct a visual inspection, I want you to know that we are not veterinarians and cannot diagnose or treat any conditions. Despite this, most dogs tolerate the procedure remarkably well. In the rare event that we’re unable to proceed with the cleaning, there is no charge for our attempt.’’

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We charge a flat rate for dog teeth cleaning because we want the service to be as accessible as possible to all breeds. We do not discriminate based on breed or size.
  • We do not recommend doing at-home appointments as this can cause the dog more stress. The home of your doggy should be a place of rest and comfort. We cannot guarantee that they will settle as well especially, knowing their owner is in the other room. Dogs are much like children in that their behaviour is usually significantly better when they are outside of their home and away from their doggy parents.
  • Although this service is gentle enough that the dogs get up and walk away happy we do not recommend doing a full grooming procedure on the same day. Both grooming and this service can heighten your doggy’s stress level and we do not want them to have negative experiences at our shop. We will be happy to schedule your full groom on another day whenever is convenient.
  • No sedatives are given to the dogs. More often than not they settle down quickly once they feel that they are being handled with love and kindness.
  • Indeed, there exists a significant distinction! Although commonly referred to as a “teeth cleaning,” veterinary dental procedures encompass much more when performed meticulously. Beyond mere cleaning, veterinarians can diagnose and treat a spectrum of diseases and infections while addressing deep-seated issues. Their thorough process may involve x-rays, pocket measurements, and comprehensive assessments, elements inaccessible without professional veterinary expertise. While we, as non-veterinarians, can identify oral irregularities, discerning whether they signify underlying problems is beyond our capacity. Should we detect any concerning signs, it’s imperative to refer the dog back to their veterinarian. Adhering to legal boundaries, we exclusively offer hygienic maintenance services to promote your dog’s oral health, refraining from diagnostic or therapeutic interventions, which fall within the domain of veterinary medicine.
